Butterfly was flapping along at 2 m when it encountered a thermal, circled and soared then leveled out. I failed to record its highest altitude. Wind was apparently too variable to take a solid bearing.

Butterfly started at 5 m, glided down to to 3 m and switched to flapping, level, flight for a while, then flapped up to a thermal at 12 m and began circling and soaring while drifting downwind. A sharp-shinned hawk flew over.
